Join us at Santa Barbara Games
Would we hang out with each other if we didn’t work together? We sure would!
We’re a fully remote team that has each other’s back - we know we only succeed together. We welcome humble people into our team that really, really know their stuff, but also really encourage new and different ideas. We help each other grow and ensure every single team member is part of shaping our game-making journey.
We’re a small, independent studio and take full advantage of the creative freedom we have to explore, innovate, and evolve. Our team is full of people excited to do it differently (but also know when not to recreate the wheel!). We’re on a quest to not only make it fun to play our games, but also fun to build our games.
We’re skewing slightly more towards being a cat-loving team, but we welcome all fuzzies and their good humans. We are currently building up our count of escape rooms played together.

Logo Artist / Graphic Designer
Paid Opportunity: Logo Polish / Professionalization for Indie Horror Game
Start date: ASAP
Location: Remote and can work in US time zones
The Role
Santa Barbara Games is looking for an experienced logo artist / graphic designer to take our existing Between Forests logo concept and polish it into a professional, production-ready game logo.
We already have a strong starting direction and want someone who can refine it, not reinvent it from scratch.
The Project
Between Forests is a dark folk-horror co-op game with a visual identity built around forest horror, ritual symbols, pale bone-white lettering, and an ominous violet flame. The logo needs to feel premium, readable, memorable, and appropriate for Steam capsules, trailers, key art, press materials, and in-game front-end use.
What We Need
Polish the existing logo into a professional final mark
Improve letterform consistency, silhouette, spacing, readability, and overall finish
Keep the handmade / carved / folk-horror feeling without making it messy or amateurish
Refine the flame icon
Deliver usable final files for game marketing, including transparent PNGs and layered source files
Ideally provide a few controlled variations for different use cases: horizontal logo, small-size readable version, light/dark background versions
Important
We are not looking for generative AI work. Please only apply if you create the work yourself and can show relevant portfolio examples.
Ideal Artist
Strong logo, title treatment, or key art typography experience
Experience with games, horror, fantasy, folk-horror, or dark fairytale aesthetics
Good sense of commercial readability, especially for Steam capsules and trailers
Able to preserve the spirit of an existing concept while making it feel finished and professional
Comfortable sharing sketches, process, and layered working files
References We Like
The logo should sit somewhere in the world of dark fairytale / folk-horror rather than metal band, slasher, or gothic blackletter. Think more Little Nightmares, Hollow Knight, Pentiment, dark storybook, carved wood, ritual markings, and eerie handmade typography.
At Santa Barbara Games, we’re a small team of core players building worlds we want to explore ourselves. If you love creating experiences that players talk about long after they log off — we’d love to meet you!
